Born and raised in southern Ohio in 1958, D. Arthur started painting at a very early age. The son of a talented hobby artist, D. Arthur was surrounded by his father’s art. Inspired by his father’s work and countless books of every artistic expression, the young artist turned his talents to portraiture and after painting over four thousand portraits and exhibiting in all but six of the fifty states, D. Arthur soon found fur and feather to be even more challenging and rewarding. Among his many lions, tigers and bears, Rhupert the ostrich slowly emerged and as fate would have it, all but take over D. Arthur’s artistic career. Rhupert had found D. Arthur!
Mirroring D. Arthur’s own personal journey, Rhupert has become D. Arthur’s guide, his messenger and his muse. A reminder to above all else, be yourself. And once you have pulled that off, don’t take yourself too damn serious. After all, it’s a funny thing being a human…. I mean…. An ostrich.
Since Rhupert discovered D. Arthur, Rhupert has found collectors in all fifty states and over twenty-seven countries worldwide… but who’s counting!
To quote D. Arthur or rather, Rhupert;
“The three most difficult things in life to do are
1. Find Yourself
2. Be Yourself
3. Share yourself
… and all of these are near impossible to do without a sense of humor”.
